Bula and Welcome to PACFOLD Learn

PACFOLD (The Pacific Centre for Flexible and Open Learning for Development) is an initiative of the Commonwealth of Learning and the University of the South Pacific. Its goal is to promote the adoption and application of open, flexible and distance learning methods and technologies to the challenges that confront the Pacific Islands and its people. PACFOLD, in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning, implements the project called ‘Partnership for Open, Distance and Flexible Learning in the Pacific’ funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade to support enhancing capacity and efficiency of education sectors in the Pacific. 

One of these challenges as identified by the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all“. The achievement of this objective requires the adoption of multiple strategies, especially nontraditional approaches such as open, flexible and distance learning methods and technologies.

The Centre for Flexible Learning at The University of the South Pacific has a strong and long track record in the adoption of open, flexible and distance learning methods in a wide variety of contexts, and is best placed to coordinate the work of PACFOLD Learn in order to lead and drive this effort in a concerted and comprehensive manner.
