Starting Your Own Business The contents of the Starting Your Own Business course have been written for: 1 anyone who wishes to start their own business; 2 anyone who already owns a small business, but would like to grow it while learning more about the planning process and the business aspects fundamental to sustainable growth, such as marketing, customer care, financial management etc.; 3 any pre-university learner or mature learner who would like to get a formal introduction to entrepreneurship and business planning.

Disaster Management All communities are vulnerable to disasters, both natural and man-made. This first-year University level course was designed by experts from throughout the world to increase knowledge of disaster management, with the aim of reducing this vulnerability and improving disaster responsiveness.
Technical and Vocational Teacher Training These materials provide a distance education training programme for technical and vocational teachers, addressing the core pedagogical needs of the four levels of teachers in this field.
Certificate in Community Development – University of the South Pacific The University of the South Pacific (USP) has made the materials for three courses in the Certificate in Community Development (Level 3) programme available as open education resources (OER). This course is articulated to Level 3 on the Fiji National Qualifications Framework. The programme enhances students’ knowledge regarding community development issues and challenges both current and emerging, appropriate community development processes, approaches, strategies and skills to enable them to be effective community workers, trainers and leaders in terms of addressing and coping with these community development issues and challenges.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission Vocational Skills Training Packages With support from the Commonwealth of Learning, the Center for International Education and Development (CINED) of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) in Bangladesh developed five vocational skills training packages. These training packages are meant to enhance the existing vocational skills of the rural and urban poor and to create opportunity to gain new vocational skills for improving the quality of lives. Each package contains an easy-to-read pictorial booklet and animation video on the following five selected trades:
Producing Interlocking Stabilised Soil Blocks: A Flexible Learning Course Through the INVEST Africa partnership of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), representatives of four Kenyan institutes, namely Rift Valley Technical Training Institute, Coast Institute of Technology, Masai Technical Training Institute and Mombasa Technical Training Institute, developed a course on brick making for non-formal community training.
Permaculture Matuaileoo Environmental Trust Incorporated (METI) in Samoa, with support from COL, has developed an introductory manual on Permaculture. This manual has been prepared as a self-instructional course for Taiala to enable them to teach people in their communities about permaculture.
